BASIC INFO

Get to know Premantura

Situated at the end of the peninsula, immersed in the blue-green sea, it creates a magnificent sight. 30 kilometres of coastline, bays and beaches, uninhabited islands, unique flora and breathtaking landscape make Premantura a unique place. Its sea is one of the cleanest in the Mediterranean. The typical Mediterranean architecture gives the impression of a sleepy sea town, which resists the sea winds. In the centre, there is the tower of the church of Saint Lovro, the patron of Premantura, which is visible from the sea and has served as a landmark for fishermen and sailors for years. Its history goes deep into the past. The traces of dinosaurs, 70 million years old, on the nearby island Fenoliga, and remnants of the old buildings a few thousand years old, witness the early presence of life on the peninsula.

Nature and landscape

Natural treasures

Because of its location, natural treasures and the openness of its inhabitants, Premantura is a perfect destination for those who want an active holiday in a unique environment. The cape Kamenjak, 9.5 km long, a protected landscape, is known for its stunning 30km long coastline (with large and small intimate coves and extremely clear water) and for more than 570 plant species, out of which 30 are on the endangered species list. Among them, there are 20 species of orchids, some of which are endemic.

In front of Cape Kamenjak rises Porer, a lighthouse built in 1833 on an 80 m wide cliff, where today those who want a peaceful and unique “Robinson” vacation experience can be found. Premantura, with its extremely clean sea and winds that kisses its coast, is a paradise for windsurfers, while its seabed, rich in fish, shallow water, underwater rocks and sunken ships, lures every diver.

Nowhere else the sunset has such beauty even in a bright night when the moon river does spread with passion. Premantura offers an unforgettable getaway that feeds the senses, gives new energy to the body and awakes the spirit.

Recommendations:
Parish Church of St.Lovro – built in 1632, with 5 altars and a 27 m high bell tower

Fenoliga – island in front of Premantura, with plenty of fossilized footprints of two leg carnivore dinosaurs – theropods and ornithopods, as well as fingerprints and oval-shaped four-legged sauropod dinosaurs.

Lighthouse Porer – located on the same island, it was built in 1833 and it has a 35 m tower; it is located 2.5 kilometres from the mainland

Cape Kamenjak – protected landscape, 9,5 km of length and width varying from 400 to 1600 meters, dipped in blue-green sea, it is a home to over 570 plant species, of which 30 are protected, especially the numerous species of orchids from 33 families. The white dusty roads intertwined lead to its beautiful coastline, over 30 km long, with alternate rocky and sandy beaches. Islets near Kamenjak are the place where you can still see cows on pasture

Windsurfing – because of favourable winds and a specific coast, this place is ideal for windsurfing

Diving – Premantura’s underwater life is ideal for scuba diving due to its crystal clear waters, shoals, reefs, underwater ships, from which we recommend the torpedo boat Flamingo of the Austrian Navy, which, during World War I ran into his mine and today lies at a depth of 45 meters

Fishing – the area of Premantura is extremely rich in fish. This region contains almost 90% of all fish species that live in the Adriatic. It is not uncommon to see dolphins as they swim by, chasing fish with local fishermen
